There are times when the pace of work around the Capitol seems to follow a hurry-up-and-wait pattern, while other times things move so swiftly it can be tough to keep up. The last few days have definitely fallen squarely into that latter category.

And the flurry of activity this past week achieved its purpose as many of the session’s major appropriation and finance bills have met today’s third committee deadline to have been acted upon favorably.

But, as a reminder, committee deadlines do not apply to the House Capital Investment, Taxes, Ways and Means, and Rules and Legislative Administration committees.

Up next is the Legislature’s Easter/Passover break, which begins tomorrow, April 9. Members will not resume official House business until April 19, leaving less than five weeks to complete their work by this year’s constitutionally mandated adjournment date, May 23.

Here’s a look back at what you may have missed. Have a good weekend and enjoyable break.
