Garofalo to resign from House

Rep. Pat Garofalo (R-Farmington) will resign his District 58B seat effective Sunday, July 14 at 11:59 p.m.

In a letter to Gov. Tim Walz dated July 9, 2024, Garofalo gave notice of his intended resignation, adding: “It has been an honor to serve the constituents of House District 58B and the state of Minnesota.”

The 10-term lawmaker, who chaired and served on numerous House committees during his 20 years in the Legislature, announced in January that he would not seek reelection.

House Minority Leader Lisa Demuth (R-Cold Spring) released a statement Tuesday thanking Garofalo for his service.

"Representative Garofalo's 20 years of service as State Representative have been an incredible benefit to his constituents and the community he serves,” Demuth said. “His wide-ranging expertise and work in crafting laws has made our state a better place to live, and his hard work and dedication to his constituents and our state have provided a great example to all those elected after him.”
