HOUSE
RESOLUTION NO. 15
A House resolution honoring the life and career of Dr. Benjamin
S. Pomeroy.
Whereas, Dr. Benjamin S. Pomeroy graduated from St. Paul
Central High School and earned a doctor of veterinary
medicine degree from Iowa State University and a master's of science degree
from Cornell University; and
Whereas, in 1934, Dr. Pomeroy became a veterinary
diagnostician at the University of Minnesota Extension Division and soon earned
his doctorate and became a professor at the university; and
Whereas, for his life of dedication to excellence in the
field of veterinary medicine, Dr. Pomeroy was awarded the University of
Minnesota's Siehl Prize for Excellence in Agriculture in 1999, and because of
Dr. Pomeroy's work, once-devastating poultry diseases could now, in the words
of the university's program, be spoken of "in the past tense"; and
Whereas, Dr. Pomeroy was beloved by family, friends, and
colleagues, and he will be dearly missed by those who were privileged enough to
know him personally, while the impact of his remarkable work in the field of
veterinary medicine will be felt for years to come; Now, Therefore,
Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the
State of Minnesota that it commends the life and work of Dr. Benjamin S.
Pomeroy and extends its sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Be It Further Resolved that the Chief Clerk of the House
of Representatives is directed to prepare an enrolled copy of this resolution,
to be authenticated by his signature and that of the Speaker, and transmit it
to the family of Dr. Benjamin S. Pomeroy.
