The House of Representatives convened at 9:00 a.m. and was called to order by Ron Abrams, Speaker pro tempore.

 

Prayer was offered by Representative Bruce Anderson, District 19A, Buffalo Township, Minnesota.

 

The members of the House gave the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

A quorum was present.

 

Abeler, Bradley, Buesgens, Davids, Dorman, Erickson, Finstad, Goodwin, Hackbarth, Howes, Kahn, Lesch, Mariani, Meslow, Opatz, Penas and Vandeveer were excused.

 

The Chief Clerk proceeded to read the Journal of the preceding day. Juhnke moved that further reading of the Journal be suspended and that the Journal be approved as corrected by the Chief Clerk. The motion prevailed.

Paulsen moved that the House recess subject to the call of the Chair. The motion prevailed.

 

RECESS

 

RECONVENED

 

The House reconvened and was called to order by Speaker pro tempore Abrams.

 

 

MOTION TO FIX TIME TO CONVENE

 

Paulsen moved that when the House adjourns today it adjourn until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2005.

 

 

Anderson, I., moved to amend the Paulsen motion as follows:

 

Delete "1:00 p.m." and insert "2:00 p.m."

 

The motion prevailed and the amendment was adopted.

 

 

The question recurred on the Paulsen motion, as amended, to fix the time to convene at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2005. The motion prevailed.

 

 

INTRODUCTION AND FIRST READING OF HOUSE BILLS

 

 

The following House File was introduced:

 

 

Sertich, Carlson and Solberg introduced:

 

H. F. No. 126, A bill for an act relating to appropriations; appropriating money for continued, temporary operation of state government.

 

The bill was read for the first time and referred to the Committee on Rules and Legislative Administration.

 

 

MOTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS

 

 

Thissen moved that the name of Peterson, S., be added as an author on H. F. No. 118. The motion prevailed.

 

Erhardt moved that the name of Peterson, S., be added as an author on H. F. No. 119. The motion prevailed.

 

Nelson, P., moved that the names of Samuelson, Tingelstad, Soderstrom and McNamara be added as authors on H. F. No. 121. The motion prevailed.

 

Buesgens moved that the names of Davids and Erickson be added as authors on H. F. No. 125. The motion prevailed.

MOTION TO SUSPEND RULES

 

Sertich moved that the Rules of the House be so far suspended that H. F. No. 99 be recalled from the Committee on Rules and Legislative Administration, be given its second and third readings and be placed upon its final passage.

 

 

A roll call was requested and properly seconded.

 

 

The question was taken on the Sertich motion and the roll was called. There were 64 yeas and 52 nays as follows:
