Prior to the convening of session, Maddy Sorenson and Anna
Carey performed the song "Shines for All to See" in honor of
Minnesota's 150th anniversary of statehood.
The House of Representatives convened at 12:00 noon and was
called to order by Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Speaker of the House.
Prayer was offered by the Reverend Paul Rogers, House Chaplain.
The members of the House gave the pledge of allegiance to the
flag of the United States of America.
Representative Steve Drazkowski, from
District 28B, was elected in a special election held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007
to replace Representative Steve Sviggum, whose resignation was effective on
Tuesday, July 17, 2007. Representative
Drazkowski had previously been administered and subscribed to the oath of
office on Thursday, August 16, 2007.
