1.2Delete everything after the enacting clause and insert:
1.3 "Section 1.
[609.806] INTERFERING WITH INTERNET TICKET SALES.
1.4 (a) A person who: (1) intentionally sells, gives, possesses, uses, or otherwise
1.5distributes, or (2) possesses with the intent to sell, give, or distribute software that on a
1.6ticket seller's Web site circumvents a security measure; an access control system; or a
1.7control or measure that is used to ensure an equitable ticket buying process, is guilty
1.8of a gross misdemeanor.
1.9 (b) For the purposes of this section, "software" means computer programs that are
1.10primarily designed or produced for the purpose of interfering with the operation of any
1.11person or entity that sells, over the Internet, tickets of admission to a sporting event,
1.12theater, musical performance, or place of public entertainment or amusement of any kind.
1.13EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2008, and applies to
1.14offenses committed on or after that date."
1.15Delete the title and insert:
1.17relating to crime; establishing offense related to interfering with Internet ticket
1.18sales;proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 609."
