1.3 "Sec. 3. Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 347.51, subdivision 2, is amended to read:
1.4 Subd. 2.
Registration. An animal control authority shall issue a certificate of
1.5registration to the owner of a dangerous dog if the owner presents sufficient evidence that:
1.6 (1) a proper enclosure exists for the dangerous dog and a posting on the premises
1.7with a clearly visible warning sign, including a warning symbol to inform children, that
1.8there is a dangerous dog on the property;
1.9 (2) a surety bond issued by a surety company authorized to conduct business in this
1.10state in a form acceptable to the animal control authority in the sum of at least $50,000,
1.11payable to any person injured by the dangerous dog, or a policy of liability insurance issued
1.12by an insurance company authorized to conduct business in this state in the amount of at
1.13least $50,000, insuring the owner for any personal injuries inflicted by the dangerous dog;
1.14 (3) the owner has paid an annual fee of not more than $500, in addition to any
1.15regular dog licensing fees, to obtain a certificate of registration for a dangerous dog under
1.16this section;
and
1.17 (4) the owner has had microchip identification implanted in the dangerous dog as
1.18required under section
347.515; and
1.19 (5) the owner has completed a course of instruction in the safe and responsible care
1.20of a dangerous dog. The course must include instruction in managing canine aggression
1.21and provide obedience training for the dangerous dog, and must be taught by an individual
1.22certified or with advanced training in the responsible ownership and handling of dangerous
1.23dogs. "
1.24Renumber the sections in sequence and correct the internal references
1.25Amend the title accordingly
