UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS; CONTINUED REQUEST TIME
1.5PERIOD WAIVER.
1.6 Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the commissioner must accept initial
1.7and continued requests for unemployment benefits and pay unemployment benefits to an
1.8applicant who applied for unemployment benefits on September 15, 2006, and had an
1.9account dated September 10, 2006:
1.10 (1) was employed as a technician or inspector for Northwest Airlines, Inc., prior
1.11to August 20, 2005;
1.12 (2) stopped working on or about August 20, 2005, because of a labor dispute between
1.13the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) and Northwest Airlines, Inc.;
1.14 (3) did not file an initial or continued requests for unemployment benefits within the
1.15time periods required under chapter 268; and
1.16 (4) meets all the other requirements for the payment of unemployment benefits
1.17under Minnesota Statutes, section 268.069, subdivision 2.
1.18EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment
1.19and applies retroactively to August 21, 2005."
