1.5Page 17, after line 9, insert:

1.6    "Sec. 29. Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 169.781, subdivision 2, is amended to read:
1.7    Subd. 2. Inspection required. It is unlawful for a person to operate or permit
1.8the operation of:
1.9    (1) a commercial motor vehicle registered in Minnesota or a spotter truck; or
1.10    (2) special mobile equipment as defined in section 168.011, subdivision 22, and
1.11which is self-propelled, if it is mounted on a commercial motor vehicle chassis,
1.12unless the vehicle displays a valid safety inspection decal issued by an inspector certified
1.13by the commissioner, or the vehicle carries (1) proof that the vehicle complies with
1.14federal motor vehicle inspection requirements for vehicles in interstate commerce, and
1.15(2) a certificate of compliance with federal requirements issued by the commissioner
1.16under subdivision 9.
1.17EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment
1.18and expires on June 30, 2013."
1.19Renumber the sections in sequence and correct the internal references
1.20Amend the title accordingly
