1.3Page 154, after line 9, insert:

1.4    "Sec. 5. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 123B.79, subdivision 7, is amended to read:
1.5    Subd. 7. Account transfer for certain severance pay designated separation
1.6and retirement benefits. A district may maintain in a reserve for certain severance
1.7pay separate designated for separation and retirement benefit account not more than 50
1.8percent of the amount necessary to meet the obligations for the portion of severance
1.9pay that constitutes compensation for accumulated sick leave to be used for payment of
1.10premiums for group insurance provided for former employees by the district separation
1.11and retirement benefits, including compensated absences, termination benefits, pension
1.12benefits, and other postemployment benefits, not accounted for elsewhere. The amount
1.13necessary must be calculated according to standards established by the department.
1.14EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment."
1.15Renumber the sections in sequence and correct the internal references
1.16Amend the title accordingly
