1.21    Subd. 3. Water conditioning installation. "Water conditioning installation" means
1.22the installation of appliances, appurtenances, and fixtures designed to treat water so as to
1.23alter, modify, add or remove mineral, chemical or bacterial content, said installation to be
1.24made in a water distribution system serving a single family residential unit or multifamily
1.25housing , which has been initially established by a licensed plumber, and does not involve
1.26a direct connection without an air gap to a soil or waste pipe. "

2.2    "Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 326B.974, is amended to read:
2.3326B.974 SCHOOL ENGINEER OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
2.4    Subdivision 1. License required. Any custodial engineer employed by a school
2.5whose duties include the operation of a boiler shall be licensed pursuant to section
2.6326B.978 , to operate the particular class of boiler used in the school.
2.7    Subd. 2. School district training. A school district shall provide annually at least
2.8eight hours of training related to boiler operation to a licensee described in subdivision 1.
2.9The training must be administered by a licensed first or chief class engineer during the
2.10licensee's normal working hours. Two hours of the required training shall occur in the
2.11boiler room and must include demonstration of tasks associated with operating boilers.
2.12The tasks associated with operating boilers acceptable for the training must be from the
2.13list of approved tasks supplied by the chief boiler inspector. The administrator of the
2.14training shall receive training credit for time spent administering training pursuant to this
2.15subdivision."
