1.3Page 39, after line 7, insert:
1.4 "Sec. 10. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 153A.17, is amended to read:
1.5153A.17 EXPENSES; FEES.
1.6(a) The expenses for administering the certification requirements including the
1.7complaint handling system for
certified hearing aid dispensers in sections
153A.14 and
1.8153A.15
and the Consumer Information Center under section
153A.18 must be paid
1.9from initial application and examination fees, renewal fees, penalties, and fines.
All
1.10fees are nonrefundable.
1.11(b) The certificate application fee is $350, the examination fee is $250 for the
1.12written portion and $250 for the practical portion each time one or the other is taken,
1.13and the trainee application fee is $200. The penalty fee for late submission of a renewal
1.14application is $200. The fee for verification of certification to other jurisdictions or entities
1.15is $25.
All fees are nonrefundable.
1.16(c) All fees, penalties, and fines received must be deposited in the state government
1.17special revenue fund. The commissioner may prorate the certification fee for new
1.18applicants based on the number of quarters remaining in the annual certification period.
1.19(d) The fees charged by the commissioner must reflect the actual costs of
1.20administering the program under paragraph (a). Fees must not be increased to cover the
1.21costs associated with investigating allegations against uncertified hearing aid dispensers."
1.22Renumber the sections in sequence and correct the internal references
1.23Amend the title accordingly
