1.4    "Sec. .... Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 16B.27, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.5    Subdivision 1. Use. The governor's residence must may be used for official
1.6ceremonial functions of the state, and to provide suitable living quarters for the governor
1.7of the state. If the commissioner determines that the costs of using the residence building
1.8for ceremonial functions and for living quarters for the governor outweigh the benefits, the
1.9commissioner must temporarily close the governor's residence. If the commissioner closes
1.10the residence, the commissioner must provide a minimal level of maintenance to ensure
1.11there is no deterioration to the property.

1.12    Sec. .... Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 16B.27, subdivision 6, is amended to read:
1.13    Subd. 6. Use by nonstate entities. If the governor is not using the residence
1.14for living quarters, the commissioner is encouraged to make the residence available to
1.15nonstate entities, at a rate commensurate with the market rate for use of similar space. A
1.16nonstate entity using the governor's residence must pay the state the rate determined by
1.17the commissioner. The rate must at least compensate the state for all direct and indirect
1.18costs associated with use of the facility."
1.19Renumber the sections in sequence and correct the internal references
1.20Amend the title accordingly
