1.4This act may be cited as "Hannah's Law."
1.5 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 245A.40, subdivision 4, is amended to read:
1.6 Subd. 4.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation. (a)
When children are present All
1.7teachers and assistant teachers in a child care center governed by Minnesota Rules, parts
1.89503.0005 to 9503.0170,
and at least one staff person
must be present in the center
1.9who has been trained during field trips and when transporting children in care, must
1.10satisfactorily complete training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and in the
1.11treatment of obstructed airways
that includes CPR techniques for infants and children. The
1.12CPR training must be completed within 90 days of the start of work, unless the training
1.13has been completed within the previous three years. The CPR training must have been
1.14provided by an individual approved to provide CPR instruction, must be repeated at least
1.15once every three years, and must be documented in the staff person's records.
1.16 (b) CPR training may be provided for less than four hours.
1.17 (c)
Persons qualified to provide CPR training shall include individuals approved as
1.18CPR instructors. Persons providing CPR training must use CPR training that has been
1.19developed:
1.20(1) by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross and incorporates
1.21psychomotor skills to support the instruction; or
1.22(2) using nationally recognized, evidence-based guidelines for CPR and incorporates
1.23psychomotor skills to support the instruction."
