1.6    Subd. 11. Geographic information systems. The Legislative Coordinating
1.7Commission shall provide geographic information services to the legislative branch
1.8through an agreement with an executive branch agency or a contract with a private vendor,
1.9or both. Services provided by the executive branch shall be provided in a timely fashion
1.10to the legislature. Services relating to redistricting may not be provided by an executive
1.11branch agency.

1.12    Sec. 3. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 3.303, is amended by adding a subdivision to
1.13read:
1.14    Subd. 12. Records retention. The Legislative Coordinating Commission must
1.15adopt a records retention policy, for purposes of sections 15.17 and 138.17, that applies to
1.16the house of representatives, the senate, and all other entities in the legislative branch. The
1.17commission must publish this policy on the commission's Web site.
1.18EFFECTIVE DATE.The authority to adopt a policy under this section is effective
1.19the day following final enactment. Policies previously adopted by entities in the legislative
1.20branch remain in effect until adoption of a policy by the Legislative Coordinating
1.21Commission under this section."
