Subd. 3. Notification to city. (a) An organizer of a motorcycle group ride event in

1.9the date of the event, and must specify the event route and expected times and locations of
1.10traffic control planned to be performed by motorcycle road guards.
1.11(b) Following the event notification under paragraph (a), the chief of police shall
1.12determine whether to (1) allow motor road guards to perform traffic control for the
1.13motorcycle group ride as provided in this section and chapter 169, or (2) provide traffic
1.14control through authorized city personnel at the times and locations specified in the event
1.15notification. The chief of police shall respond in writing to the event organizer of the
1.16determination at least three business days prior to the date of the event. The chief of police
1.17and the city may not impose a charge to event organizers or motorcyclists for traffic
1.18control services provided under this subdivision."
