Psychiatric consultation to primary care practitioners. Medical
1.6assistance covers consultation provided by a psychiatrist, a psychologist,
or an advanced
1.7practice registered nurse certified in psychiatric mental health
, or a licensed independent
1.8clinical social worker via telephone, e-mail, facsimile, or other means of communication
1.9to primary care practitioners, including pediatricians. The need for consultation and the
1.10receipt of the consultation must be documented in the patient record maintained by the
1.11primary care practitioner. If the patient consents, and subject to federal limitations and
1.12data privacy provisions, the consultation may be provided without the patient present."
