1.19the second year are for protection of drinking
1.20water sources.
1.21(c) $250,000 the first year and $250,000 the
1.22second year are for cost-share assistance to
1.23public and private well owners for up to 50
1.24percent of the cost of sealing unused wells.
2.1(d) $390,000 the first year and $390,000 the
2.2second year are to update and expand the
2.3county well index, in cooperation with the
2.4commissioner of natural resources.
2.5(e) $325,000 the first year and $325,000 the
2.6second year are for studying the occurrence
2.7and magnitude of contaminants in private
2.8wells and developing guidance to ensure
2.9that new well placement minimizes the
2.10potential for risks, in cooperation with the
2.11commissioner of agriculture.
2.12(f) $105,000 the first year and $105,000 the
2.13second year are for monitoring recreational
2.14beaches on Lake Superior for pollutants that
2.15may pose a public health risk and mitigating
2.16sources of bacterial contamination that are
2.17identified.
2.18(g) $800,000 the first year and $800,000
2.19the second year are for the development
2.20and implementation of a groundwater
2.21virus monitoring plan, including an
2.22epidemiological study to determine the
2.23association between groundwater virus
2.24concentration and community illness rates.
2.25This appropriation is available until June 30,
2.262017.
