MINUTES

Representative Marquart, Chair of the Committee on Education Finance, called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM, March 20, 2013 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Moran moved HF818 (Moran) Minnesota Principals' Academy funding provided, and money appropriated.

Public testimony was provided by former Education Commissioner Alice Seagren; Ken Dragseth, University of Minnesota; Don Johnson, Executive Director of the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals; Gary Amoroso, Executive Director of Minnesota Association of School Administrators; and Joey Page, Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association.

Members' questions and comments were addressed throughout the bill presentation.

CHAIR MARQUART LAID OVER HF818 FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN AN OMNIBUS EDUCATION FINANCE BILL.

Representative McDonald moved the minutes of March 19th, 2013 be approved.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Representative Bernardy moved HF448 (Bernardy) School lunch aid increased.

Public testimony was provided by Rachel Valesano, Minnesota School Nutrition Association; Amy Kimmel, Nutrition Services Coordinator - Spring Lake Park Schools; Michelle Johnson, parent of student at Glen Lake Elementary School; and Grace Johnson, student at Glen Lake Elementary School.

Members' questions and comments were addressed throughout the bill presentation.

CHAIR MARQUART LAID OVER HF448 FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN AN OMNIBUS EDUCATION FINANCE BILL.

Representative Davnie moved HF973 (Davnie) Collaborative urban educator recruitment and training program grants authorized, and money appropriated.

Public testimony was provided by Jeanine Gregoire, Augsburg College; Doug Hennes, St. Thomas University; Mohammed Muhuhmad, Somali Parents' Association.

Members' questions and comments were addressed throughout the bill presentation.

CHAIR MARQUART LAID OVER HF973 FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN AN OMNIBUS EDUCATION FINANCE BILL.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30AM.
