REDISTRICTING COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Mary Murphy, Chair of the Committee on Redistricting, called the virtual meeting to order at 9:00 AM on May 5th, 2022 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Klevorn moved to approve the minutes from December 9th, 2021. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Nicole Freeman, Government Relations Director for the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office, gave a summary of what the current processes are for local units of government to seek administrative changes to redistricting boundaries.

Vice Chair Klevorn assumed the gavel at 9:14 AM.

Representative Murphy moved that SF 4476 be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

Representative Murphy presented SF 4476:

- Michelle May, Chippewa County

Representative Murphy presented the S4476A3 amendment.

Representative Murphy presented the S4476A2 amendment.

The committee recessed at 9:53 a.m.

The committee reconvened at 10:10 a.m.

Representative Murphy moved the S4476A3 amendment.

Representative Schultz stated she would abstain from voting on the S4476A3 amendment.

THE S4476A3 MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Murphy moved the S4476A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Vice Chair Klevorn noted that the S4476A4 amendment will not be voted on at this time.

Representative Murphy renewed the motion that SF 4476, as amended, be recommended to be placed on the General Register.
