Writer - House Public Information Services (Temporary Position)


Full-time temporary positions are available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as writers for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office.

Duties are to provide online content during the 2025 legislative session, including on-site, same-day committee and floor session coverage. Longer, in-depth feature stories will also be sought. Strong reporting and writing skills are required, and news reporting experience is strongly encouraged. Must be able to write clearly and quickly about complex subjects.

Understanding of state government, legislative and office procedures a must. Some long and irregular hours may be required.

This is an hourly, at-will position that works in person. Benefits include earned sick and safe time, paid holidays based on hours worked, and earned non-exempt overtime. Starting classification and hourly rate commensurate with relevant experience. Writer hourly salary range is $28.35-$51.02 commensurate with experience. The starting salary range for an entry-level Writer is generally between $28.35 and $31.19, depending on relevant experience.

These positions are anticipated to begin in early January and run approximately through the end of May, depending on session length.
