Rep. Liz Reyer earns 2024 Minnesota Psychological Association Legislator of the Year Award
ST. PAUL – Last week, Rep. Liz Reyer (DFL-Eagan) received the 2024 Minnesota Psychological Association Legislator of the Year Award. This award recognizes legislators who went above and beyond to promote mental health legislation during the 2024 legislative session. Representative Reyer has been a dedicated advocate for mental health in the state legislature, leveraging her platform to address the critical mental health needs of her constituents and the broader state population.
“Representative Reyer shares MPA's vision of increasing accessibility to mental health services and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness”, said Dr. Dennis Hannon, MPA Legislative Committee Co-Chair. “Her commitment to mental health is reflected in her consistent collaboration with mental health professionals, community organizations, and other lawmakers to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals struggling with mental health.”
Rep. Reyer issued the following statement:
“I’m honored to receive this award. Mental healthcare is healthcare, and increasing accessibility to services and reducing the stigma is so important. That’s why we worked together to pass legislation ensuring better funding for mental health programs, support school-based mental health initiatives, and enhance crisis intervention services. I am looking forward to collaborating with MPA and stakeholders in this next legislative session to expand on these goals.”
