Celebrate 50 Years of Southeast Asians in Minnesota! Grant Opportunity Now Open

Friday, July 19, 2024

Dear Neighbors,

I am excited to share some news with you but before I do, I wanted to inform you, during an election period, legislators cannot use state resources for unsolicited communications because it might create an unfair advantage. Therefore, this will be my last e-update until after the election.

I am still available to help with state-level problems and to discuss important issues in our community, so please reach out if I can assist in any way. You can set up an appointment by emailing my, Legislative Assistant Robin-Mercer-Taylor at: robin.mercer-taylor@house.mn.gov, and I will be happy to help.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Southeast Asian communities in Minnesota, the Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) is proud to launch a grant program that aims to support historical and cultural projects that preserve, recognize, and celebrate the profound contributions of Southeast Asian Minnesotans.

Apply for a Grant!

I am proud to have authored and passed legislation securing funding for this grant program. I'm thrilled to encourage cultural community organizations, historical organizations, and veterans' organizations to apply! This grant can provide the funding you need to bring your impactful project to life.

Whether you're planning an art exhibit celebrating local traditions, developing educational programs about our past, or creating a space to honor veterans' sacrifices, this grant can help make it happen.

This will be a momentous occasion where Southeast Asian communities in Minnesota come together to share their rich heritage, traditions, and resilience.

This anniversary event is more than a celebration; it's a chance to share the beauty of Southeast Asian cultures with our neighbors and create experiences that will resonate for generations to come.

I look forward to celebrating together the rich history and enduring legacy of Southeast Asians in Minnesota.
