Niska in majority leader role as 2025 session convenes

Tuesday, January 14, 2025

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Harry Niska, R-Ramsey, returned to the Capitol Tuesday to perform the oath of office as a new leader in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Niska was re-elected to the House for a second term last November. He will continue serving District 31A, which includes the entire city of Ramsey and a portion of Andover. Niska’s legislative roles will be elevated this biennium after being named Republican majority leader, and also chair of the powerful House Rules Committee.

“House Republicans came to the Capitol ready to get down to business in the new session,” Niska said. “We are focused on our mission to do the work Minnesotans are counting on us to do. We will continue to fight for accountability and transparency in our state government, serving as the voices of the people who entrusted us to lead. I’m honored to once again perform the oath of office and am excited to take on the challenges we face as a state.”

Niska said House Republicans recently shared a list of priorities for the 2025 legislative session. They include:

  • Stop the Fraud
  • Make Minnesota Affordable
  • Make Minnesota Safe
  • Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates
  • Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans
  • Build for the Future

Niska said District 31A residents can call his legislative office at (651) 296-2439 or email rep.harry.niska@house.mn.gov to get in touch. He also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them at his official state website: www.house.mn/31a.
