Legislative Update

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It's been another productive week here in St. Paul. I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to visit me at the Capitol. This week, we celebrated Agricultural Day at the Capitol, where I had the opportunity to meet with the Minnesota Farm Bureau. I was also joined by Ella Thome, who spent the day shadowing me, and I continued my work on a bill aimed at preventing local governments from banning propane and natural gas as energy sources.

Agricultural Day at the Capitol & The Minnesota Farm Bureau

On Tuesday, we had the privilege of hosting the Minnesota Farm Bureau for their Day at the Capitol. This event provided a chance to engage in meaningful discussions about the key issues and priorities facing our farming community, such as generational farming, environmental stewardship, research and innovation, economic growth, rural prosperity, and animal emergency preparedness. I’m grateful for the valuable insights and expertise the Farm Bureau shared, and I remain committed to advocating for policies that benefit the agricultural sector.

Students of Today - Leaders of Tomorrow

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of hosting Ella Thome, a University of Minnesota student who is set to graduate in May. Ella, who will be joining a grain marketing firm in Wisconsin after graduation, spent the day shadowing me as part of her assignment. During her visit, she had the opportunity to sit in on my committee meetings, gaining valuable insight into the legislative process and the work we’re doing at the Capitol. It was a great experience to connect with Ella as she prepares for her future career.

Securing Affordable Energy for Minnesotans

I've been working on a bill (HF 483) to ensure reliable access to affordable natural gas and propane, preventing local governments from imposing bans that would disrupt energy services. It provides flexibility for households and businesses to choose the most practical and cost-effective energy solutions rather than mandating any one source over another. This will allow communities to balance energy efficiency goals with the continued availability of essential energy sources.

A Special Thanks

It was a great time meeting with members of the Minnesota Farm Bureau & Potato Growers out of Anoka, Mille Lacs, Isanti, and Sherburne counties.
