Monthly Column: Introducing Rep. Stier

Wednesday, January 15, 2025

On Tuesday this week, I took the oath of office in the Minnesota House of Representatives as the 94th Legislature was installed.

While I am no stranger to serving my community, this will be my first term serving the people of District 22B in this capacity. It is an incredibly humbling opportunity to be their representative, and I look forward to working for them each and every day.

I’ve lived in the area for many years with my wife and our four children on a family farm just south of Belle Plaine. In my spare time, I enjoy being around family and friends, attending my kid’s youth sporting events, or enjoying the great Minnesota outdoors where I hunt, fish, and trap game.

Prior to being elected, I served with the Belle Plaine Police Department for more than 22 years in a variety of law enforcement roles. I took over as Chief of Police in 2020. As a law enforcement professional, I remain committed to making my community and the State of Minnesota a safe place to live.

We have a lot of work ahead of us as we enter the 2025 legislative session and partisanship appears to be at an all-time high. However, my colleagues and I are determined to do the important work our constituents elected us to do.

My legislative priorities focus on three key areas: improving public safety, removing the federal mandates imposed on our schools, and making Minnesota an affordable place to live, raise a family, and start a business.

Throughout the 2025 session, I encourage residents of District 22B to reach out to me with any questions or comments. I will always take to heart their concerns, and I will always work for them as a proud representative of our community.

The best way I can do that is to hear from those I’ve been elected to represent so please reach out to me with your ideas and legislative concerns at (651) -296-7065 or email me at rep.terry.stier@house.mn.gov.
