ST. PAUL – State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) was recently named as a member of the Minnesota House Omnibus Taxes bill conference committee.
“I’m very pleased by this appointment and will work to improve the taxes legislation so it benefits more Minnesotans through tax relief,” Davids said.
A conference committee is called when the Minnesota House and Senate pass similar, but not identical, bills on a particular topic. The goal is for the five representatives and five senators who serve on the committee to craft legislation that can be approved by both bodies.
With a $17.5 billion budget surplus, Davids hopes common sense will prevail in this conference committee and permanent tax relief will be prioritized for all Minnesotans, and that a pair of tax increase proposals will be eliminated.
