ST. PAUL - The 2024 Legislative Session has begun, and State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) said the Minnesota House of Representatives will be tackling a number of questionable issues in the weeks ahead.
“A year ago we had a nearly $20 billion surplus,” Davids said. “Not only did the Democrats squander that, but they raised $10 billion in taxes besides and now we’re facing a budget deficit next year. The top priority of session should be addressing their complete mismanagement of the state’s budget, but I expect they’ll ignore this commonsense approach and continue to promote extreme provisions that satisfy their far-left base.”
Davids expects a number of controversial topics from the Democrat wish list to take center stage this session, including legally assisted suicide, making Minnesota a sanctuary state, and allowing a new state flag to fly without voter approval.
“There will likely be many other topics debated at the Capitol over the next four months, and I strongly encourage residents to share their thoughts with me on any legislative issue,” Davids said.
