St. Paul, MN - As the Minnesota House prepares to pass its Higher Education budget proposal this week, Winona State University students can see the benefits of their advocacy in the bill’s investments.
State Representative Gene Pelowski (DFL - Winona) is the Chair of the House Higher Education Committee and the author of the Higher Education budget legislation. Among other crucial investments, the bill includes a tuition freeze for Minnesota State colleges and universities.
“Our work at the legislature, especially in the Higher Education Committee, is improved when our state has a student population that is knowledgeable and engaged in the legislative process,” said Rep. Pelowski. “The budget proposal we’ll pass this week incorporates the voices of our Winona State students, and builds a higher education system that is more affordable and accessible.”
Members of Winona State University’s Student Senate, including members of the Winona Model Legislature, joined Rep. Pelowski at the State Capitol for their Advocacy Day earlier this year.
