St. Paul, MN - In order to build consensus on a final Higher Education Budget, State Representative Gene Pelowski (DFL - Winona), the Chair of the House Higher Education Committee, has been named to Chair a conference committee of House and Senate members to reach an agreement on the bill. The House members are Representative Gene Pelowski, Representative Dan Wolgamott and Representative Marion O’Neill.
“Even with the differences in our budgets, I know my Senate colleagues share a goal of building a higher education budget that Minnesotans deserve,” said Rep. Pelowski. “I’m confident in our ability to come together and produce a final budget that makes our state’s higher education system more affordable, accessible, and better equipped to prepare students for the workforce.”
The Higher Education Conference Committee was one of the first formed during this session’s budget process, with both chambers having passed their respective budget proposals. This budget primarily funds the budget needs of the University of Minnesota and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities systems.
