SAINT PAUL, MINN. – Today, State Rep. Frank Hornstein (DFL – Minneapolis) and State Sen. Scott Dibble (DFL-Minneapolis) issued statements regarding the Metropolitan Council’s announcement of a required Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) that conforms to Minnesota state law for the proposed wall construction along the Bryn Mawr corridor of the proposed Southwest Light Rail Line.
Rep. Frank Hornstein:
“I welcome the Met Council's commitment to do an EAW on the wall. This study is long overdue and it is my expectation that the Met Council will involve the public and local elected officials in every stage of this important review. I applaud the citizens and neighborhood organizations that demanded the study. Their involvement made a big difference.”
Sen. Scott Dibble:
“We have high expectations for a transparent public process that is necessary for an infrastructure project of this size. A ten foot-high, mile-long wall is not a minor matter. I am pleased that the FTA agreed with our initial contention that an EAW was needed. We look forward to ensuring this study is completed with the full involvement of the public.”
