ST. PAUL, MN – The House Transportation Policy & Finance Committee on Thursday held a public hearing to receive reports and testimony concerning new data that indicates transportation is the largest and fastest-growing sector contributing to greenhouse gas emissions in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s latest study demonstrates that transportation is the largest contributor of greenhouse gas emissions. The committee heard testimony from state agencies, the business community, and others concerning ways to reduce greenhouse emissions from transportation by promoting electric vehicles in Minnesota.
“The new data indicates that climate change is accelerating and addressing it with our transportation policies is a key component of any plan to address climate change in Minnesota,” said Chair Hornstein. “Our transportation bill will contain ideas from Minnesotans about the best way to address this urgent problem.”
