Rep. Michael Nelson’s statement on Governor Dayton’s Bonding Proposal

SAINT PAUL, MN – On Tuesday morning, April 7th, Governor Mark Dayton unveiled a bonding proposal for the 2015 session.  The package of proposals includes more than $4.5 million to refurbish and maintain Hennepin Technical College and North Hennepin Community College.

“These are exactly the kinds of colleges we need to invest in and maintain.  North Hennepin and Hennepin Tech provide the education people need to get good-paying jobs at a reasonable price,” said Rep. Nelson.  “If we want to grow middle class jobs, these are the kinds of institutions we should invest in and expand.  Interest rates are low and a targeted investment like this and keep the ball rolling for Minnesota’s economy.”

Minnesota House Republicans, who are in control of the State House, have not included a bonding bill in their proposed budgets.  More information about the Governor’s bonding proposal can be found here
