Rep. Michael Nelson Statement on Republicans' Boycott of Help America Vote Act Conference Committee
St. Paul, Minn - Minnesota Senate Republicans boycotted the second consecutive Help America Vote Act conference committee meeting yesterday. House State Government Committee Chair Michael Nelson (DFL – Brooklyn Park) released the following statement.
“Senate Republicans have twice refused to show up to put Help America Vote Act funds into use,” said Rep. Nelson. “Minnesotans deserve to have confidence in our election system, but Sen. Kiffmeyer and Senate Republicans are putting a target on our back by dragging their feet. Each day we fail to act puts Minnesotans at greater risk of attacks by foreign governments and bad actors.”
Video of yesterday’s conference committee is available here. The Senate was notified of the conference committee on April 11.
