ST. PAUL – State Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Acton Township, has gained an appointment to continue serving as the lead Republican on the House’s Capital Investment Committee when the 2021 legislative session begins Jan. 5.
Urdahl chaired the House’s Capital Investment Committee in 2017-18 before taking on the lead minority role the last two years. Urdahl is entering his 10th term in office and his ninth term serving committees on capital investment.
“I welcome the challenges that come with this position,” Urdahl said. “My main responsibility as the minority lead is to help develop a bill that can achieve support from a three-fifths super majority in the Legislature and I am proud of what we have achieved in that regard. I look forward to working with the new committee to address the state’s ongoing infrastructure needs. Economic uncertainty remains a major factor, so it will be crucial to find that balance of funding necessary infrastructure projects while remaining good stewards of taxpayer dollars.”
Urdahl said asset preservation and supporting infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges remain his top capital investment priorities.
