State Representative Patrick Garofalo (R-Farmington), chairman of the powerful House Job Growth and Energy Affordability Policy and Finance Committee, issued the following statement regarding today’s unanimous 5-0 vote by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to approve the certificate of need for the Line 3 replacement pipeline:
“Like most Minnesotans, I remain puzzled why it took almost four years for the Public Utilities Commission to approve replacing an old, decaying pipeline. The time for talk is over. It is time, in fact it is past time, to build a replacement pipeline. More importantly, the delays for approval of this infrastructure demonstrate a clear need for huge reforms to the work done by the Minnesota's Public Utilities Commission. These reforms will be my primary focus during the 2019-2020 legislative session."
