St. Paul, MN- State Representative Patrick Garofalo, R-Farmington, is praising a plan announced today by the Trump Administration that will establish a system allowing Americans to legally and safely import lower-cost prescription drugs from Canada.
“As far back as 2003, Governor Tim Pawlenty and Minnesota Republicans have advocated for this common sense reform. Today’s announcement is a real solution that will help patients get the medicine they need, while also lowering prescription drug prices” said Representative Garofalo. “Unlike the politically motivated proposals we saw from Minnesota Democrats in this past session, today’s announcement is a real reform that will actually lower drug costs. Thank you to President Trump and his administration for stepping up and removing this senseless government obstacle to consumer choice.”
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced the proposal on Wednesday amid growing dissatisfaction from consumers with drug companies and legislation from both parties in Congress to rein in drug costs.
