St. Paul, MN—State Representative Patrick Garofalo, R-Farmington, issued the following statement regarding today's news that Minnesota has a $1.3 billion budget surplus for FY20-21.
"Today’s news makes clear that our state has become too expensive for Minnesotans and their families. Instead of spending the surplus on additional programs that continue to grow the size of government to unsustainable levels, our first priority this session should instead be to lower the cost of Minnesota government. That’s why I am committed to returning as much of the surplus back to taxpayers as possible through tax relief. Let’s make Minnesota more affordable for everyone.”
