ST. PAUL, MN—Representative Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, issued the following statement regarding the status of ongoing budget negotiations.
"Raising taxes during a time of surplus is wrong, and Minnesotans deserve better than liberals holding up negotiations in an attempt to force a gas tax increase. Minnesotans don't support this plan, Republicans in the House are united in opposition to this plan, and it's time for liberals and the Governor to come back to reality so we can get to work on a budget that invests in education, senior care, and roads while also providing well-deserved tax relief to the hardworking taxpayers who helped generate this $2 billion budget surplus."
