SAINT PAUL, MN—Tonight, the Minnesota House is debating the Republican sponsored supplemental Health and Human Services bill, which was combined with the Transportation bill.
Rep. Tina Liebling (Rochester), the DFL-Health Policy Lead, released the following statement:
“Minnesotans are really concerned about healthcare. A lot of people cannot afford health insurance or the out-of-pocket expenses that come with it. They need access to healthcare. This bill prohibits the state from moving forward with the MinnesotaCare Buy-In, an insurance option that would compete in the insurance market and offer more affordable health plans. The bill also fails to take significant action on consumer protections for people in assisted living or receiving services as vulnerable adults, which are recommended by AARP and other consumer advocates. Minnesotans value healthcare and they deserve action that helps them get the care they need.”
Rep. Liebling is the DFL Lead on the House Committee on Health and Human Services Reform. Rep. Liebling can be contacted by email at rep.tina.liebling@house.mn or phone at 651-296-7173.
