SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, Minnesota Management and Budget released a new budget forecast showing a projected balance of $7.7 billion for the current two-year budget cycle.
Rep. Tina Liebling (DFL – Rochester) issued the following statement:
“The new budget projection is great news for Minnesota. While large corporations and the uber-rich have continued to make loads of money throughout the pandemic, many low-income and middle-class Minnesotans, and small businesses, are still struggling. Together with President Biden’s Build Back Better plan that is awaiting passage in the U.S. Senate, these resources must be used to create a fairer economy where working Minnesotans can get ahead and everyone enjoys the freedom of economic security. Minnesota Democrats will fight alongside our Democratic colleagues in the U.S. government for investments and policies that make high-quality child care available and affordable for Minnesota families, give every student a world-class education, and make health care affordable and accessible for all, so every Minnesotan can have economic security and a bright future.”
