(ST. PAUL) — Governor Mark Dayton released his 2014-15 budget proposal this morning. The proposal is focused on making new investment in education and economic development, while ending the structural deficits of past budgets.
State Representative Tina Liebling (DFL – Rochester) released the following statement on the Governor’s budget:
“Governor Dayton’s budget proposal rejects the shifts, tricks, and gimmicks of the last decade and will end an era of structural deficits. The proposal is an honest point of departure for the coming debate that will result in Minnesota’s next budget.
“The Governor proposes smart, new investments in education: from early to higher. A world-class education system will ensure Minnesotans are prepared to be successful in an ever changing global economy.
“This budget proposal also includes property tax reduction for middle-class Minnesotans. More money in the pockets of middle class homeowners will help drive job creation and economic growth across the state. Governor Dayton’s proposal is aggressive and forward thinking and I look forward to working with him and my colleagues throughout the session to refine the proposal and enact a final budget that reflects our values as Minnesotans.”
