Dear Neighbors,
Today, Governor Dayton signed a bill to rename Hwy 36 in North St. Paul as “Officer Richard Crittenden, Sr., Memorial Highway.
On September 7, 2009, Officer Richard Crittenden responded to a domestic disturbance call. Upon entering the scene, he was ambushed and was shot with his own weapon during the struggle. Officer Richard Crittenden, Sr., served in the North St. Paul Police Department for 9 years.
Officer Crittenden was a great man with a big heart who died doing what he loved – enforcing the law. Renaming this stretch of highway is only a small gesture to show our great gratitude for his hard work and devotion to the North St. Paul Police Department and all of our safety.
Sen. Chuck Wiger and myself authored the bill to rename a portion of Hwy 36 in honor of Officer Richard Crittenden.
