St. Paul, Minn.-Yesterday, Representative Rick Hansen joined volunteers and legislative colleagues at Dorothy Day Center in Saint Paul to participate in the Hunt-Fish-Feed outreach program, which taps underutilized food sources donated by local hunters and anglers to prepare a hearty meal for the homeless.
Rep. Hansen released the following statement:
“It was great to partner with volunteers at the Dorothy Day Center from sorting frozen donated meat to serving donated venison chili to around 200 needy Dorothy Day clients.”
The Hunt-Fish-Feed is a national program and has teamed up with Comcast and the Outdoor Channel for the community event. Chef Scott Lesyth (Host of “DeadMeat” and “The Sporting Chef” television shows) prepared a special venison chili with all the deer meat donated from local hunters within the Twin Cities area. Bill Sherck, host and producer of “Minnesota Bound” on KARE-11, and local resident, was also present.
