Saint Paul, Minn. – Today, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR) announced that two deer infected with chronic wasting disease had been found near Lanesboro, Minnesota.
Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL-South Saint Paul), the Minority Lead on the House Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, released the following statement:
“I have full confidence in the MN DNR and the Board of Animal Health to detect and contain chronic wasting disease in Minnesota. Minnesota has been through this before in Pine Island and I’m confident we will make it through this again.
“As a hunter, I’m urging my fellow hunters in Southeastern Minnesota to look for information from the DNR on spotting chronic wasting disease and on the handling of their deer. It’s through the relationship between hunters and state agencies that we’ve been so successful at containing the spread of this devastating disease.”
More information on the infections and CWD can be found on the DNR’s Website.
