Roseville, MN—Today, the Lt. Gov. Tina Smith, the Minnesota DNR and State Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL-South Saint Paul) held a press conference to mark the first day that Minnesotans will be able to purchase a State Parks and Trails License Plate.
“I’m pleased that I was able to work across party lines to create the State Parks and Trails License Plate,” remarked Rep. Hansen. “With this plate, Minnesotans will have another opportunity to support outdoor recreation and conservation efforts. We have a long history of preserving, maintaining and enjoying our beautiful state which is why I believe this plate will be a great success. I encourage everyone to get one so they can show their support for our state parks and trails.”
The plate goes on sale today for $60, with $50 of that going to the DNR. Not only will proceeds from sale of the plates go toward improving and maintaining Minnesota’s Parks and Trails, it will give plate owners access to all 75 of Minnesota’s state parks and recreation areas for free.
More information on the State Parks and Trails License Plate can be found on the DNR’s website.
Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL-South Saint Paul) is the DFL Lead on the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and authored the legislation creating the State Parks and Trails License Plate.
