SAINT PAUL, MN — Tonight, after Senate passage, the Minnesota House is expected to vote on SF 3656, the Omnibus Supplemental Budget Bill. With just over 24 hours left in the Legislative Session, House and Senate Republicans have abandoned negotiations with Governor Dayton and begun the process of passing bills destined for a veto.
State Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL – South Saint Paul) released the following statement:
“Session started on February 20th and we’ve yet to see any problem solving toward progress in passing a budget since day one. Late tonight, with a mere day left in session, we finally got a look at the 989 page omnibus budget bill the Republicans put forward. Now, in the dark of night, when no one is watching, we’ll be expected to vote on this massive bill without any public input. Here we go again, the Republican majority in the House, four years in a row, is doing an amazing disservice to the people of Minnesota with this massive omnibus bill.
“The people of Minnesota deserve so much better from us. Instead of mismanaging time for political advantage as the Republicans are, we should work together to build a better future for our district and our state. This massive, last-minute budget and policy bill doesn’t do that and I’m voting no.”
