Legislative Update - February 6, 2019

Wednesday, February 6, 2019

Dear neighbors,

New Role

On Monday, I was elected to serve as the chair of the Legislative Audit Commission. This bipartisan commission reviews the spending of public funds and government financing. I’m honored to have been chosen to lead this important commission. I look forward to working with colleagues from both parties to take a close look at government financing and how public dollars are spent.

EAB Hearing

While last week’s cold spell may have killed some emerald ash borer (EAB) beetles, populations can and will rebound. Today, several experts testified about the tremendous environmental damage these pests can cause. Karen Zumac, a West St. Paul resident, was one of the testifiers. The presentation is available here.

Minnesota Public Lands Day

I’m looking forward to joining other Minnesotans at the Capitol tomorrow to support our public lands. Public lands provide us with outdoor recreation opportunities, clean water, and fresh air. We must protect our public lands so future generations can enjoy Minnesota’s abundant resources. Check out the Facebook event for more information.

South St. Paul Town Hall
