Dear neighbors,
First of all, I’d like to congratulate our local high school graduates! This year’s seniors had to overcome unprecedented challenges in order to reach this milestone. They should be very proud of their accomplishments. I wish them all the best as they take their next steps!
The regular legislative session is over, but I’m still hard at work. In addition to working with state legislators from both parties to prepare for a potential special session, I’m working with experts and lawmakers from other states to find solutions to complex issues. For example, I serve as co-chair of the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Agriculture Task Force. This bipartisan group of legislators is dedicated to strengthening the agriculture industry, a critical part of our nation’s economy.
When the Agriculture Task Force met last week, we discussed the state of the industry and a variety of issues that impact agriculture, including COVID-19, natural disasters, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. I also attended discussions about supporting the next generation of farmers and preserving soil and water quality. The event was funded by donors, not state taxpayers.
I had a chance to visit a marine research lab and a local beekeeper’s small business.
Minnesotans can visit state parks and recreation areas for free on Saturday, June 11! If you’d like to take advantage of this opportunity, check out the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ ParkFinder tool. It has information about all 75 state parks and can help you find places with certain kinds of trails or facilities.
Please continue to reach out if you have questions or feedback you’d like to share. You can reach me at rep.rick.hansen@house.mn or call (651) 296-6828.
Sincerely,
Rick Hansen
State Representative
