SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, the Office of the Legislative Auditor released their report on the Southwest Light Rail. The report, which was enacted with bipartisan support, details the series of events and decisions which led to the cost overruns. Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL – South St. Paul), chair of the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, issued the following statement:
“Prevention is better than cleaning up. Like any major construction project, modifying plans on the go increases time and cost. This audit provides a good chronology and summary of actions taken around the SWLRT. The program evaluation will build on this solid foundation.”
